1 passenger dead after car goes into Grand River


LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — One person is confirmed dead after officials recovered a car that crashed into the Grand River in Delta Township Saturday evening.

Michigan State Police First District confirmed the update in a social media post.

Officials said they have not yet identified the person who died, who was a male passenger in the black 2012 Lincoln MKZ that was recovered from the river.

MSP said the crash appears to have been related to alcohol, and that they are investigating the driver for Operating While Intoxicating.

The state agency confirmed that two people had been rescued from the same car after it crashed into the Grand River Saturday evening.

They also confirmed the crash had happened in the area of West Jolly Road in Delta Township.
