Winning lottery ticket from Publix expires soon — but no one has claimed Florida prize

A lottery player won a big prize — but hasn’t come forward to claim it yet.

Now, time is running out, as the lucky Fantasy 5 game ticket expires in a few days, according to the Florida Lottery.

Months ago, a lottery player bought the winning ticket at the Publix grocery store on West Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach. The ticket matched all the numbers picked in the Sept. 16 drawing, making it worth $30,063.49.

“Players who may have purchased a Fantasy 5 ticket at this retail location are encouraged to check their tickets,” lottery officials wrote in a March 7 news release.

The winning ticket had the Quick Pick option, meaning a machine randomly chose at least some of the numbers on it. The numbers picked in the drawing were 12–31–24–30–16.

The lottery, which gives winners about six months to cash in, said the deadline to come forward is midnight Thursday, March 14. But as of early March 8, the prize was still unclaimed, drawing results show.

“While any Florida Lottery retailer can validate the winning ticket, the Fantasy 5 top prize must be claimed at a Florida Lottery District Office,” officials wrote.

Ormond Beach is a coastal town north of Daytona Beach.
