The Kent County couple who plead guilty in September to the serial abuse and torture of their two children have been sentenced to a total of more than 150 years in prison, the Delaware Department of Justice said Thursday.

The justice department said 46-year-old Mary Vinson and 37-year-old Charles Vinson repeatedly abused two children, one at age 10 and the other from ages 11 to 13. The kids were regularly assaulted, force-fed, starved and forced to stand for long periods of time, according to the Department of Justice.

The abuse was caught on video by a camera that the parents put in the children’s room, and both kids were hospitalized multiple times.

The Vinsons were first indicted in late 2022 on 646 charges for what Delaware prosecutors described as serial abuse and torture of their children. Mary Vinson later pled guilty to 30 felonies, including child abuse, kidnapping, strangulation, attempted assault and making a false statement to police. Charles Vinson pled guilty to 12 felonies and one misdemeanor on similar charges.

Mary Vinson has since been sentenced to 106 years in prison, the Department of Justice said, and her husband has been sentenced to 49 years behind bars.

“These children went through hell,” said Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “Now they never have to worry about their abusers again.
