REGULA AWARDS – University of Mount Union’s Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement is accepting nominations for the third annual Ralph Regula Award for Public Service and the Mary Regula Award for Community Service. Nominations can be submitted through forms at mountunion.edu/regula-center, through late February. Award winners will be recognized April 2 at the Regula Center Annual Meeting at Alliance Country Club.

SMITH TWP. – Smith Township trustees plan a special meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday at Township Hall to discuss the comprehensive action plan for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets for All Program and the paving of Norman Avenue.

GARDEN PROGRAM – Mahoning Valley Landscape and Nursery Association will conduct the 2024 MVLNA Spring Clinic from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 6 at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave. in Youngstown. This event will include a tradeshow with vendor displays and industry updates. Registration is $75 for members of MVLNA, FFRG, Garden Club or master gardeners, and $110 for non-members. FRUIT GROWING – Ohio State University Extension of Mahoning County plans a discussion for those interested in growing fruit. A seminar will run 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 9 at OSU Extension Mahoning County at 490 S. Broad St. in Canfield. Registration is $20, which includes all handouts and materials. COUNTRY MUSIC – Canton Country Music plans dances March 3 and March 10 at the American Legion, 1633 Cleveland Ave. NW. Hot Cargo Band will play March 3. Classic Rewind Band will play March 10. Doors open at 1:15 p.m., and music will be 2 to 5 p.m. Donation is $3 at the door. Lottery tree, 50/50 drawing and food is available.

ALLIANCE FIRE – Alliance Fire Department plans a promotional examination for fire prevention officer at 9 a.m. April 16 at the City Administration Building, 504 E. Main St. in Alliance. Eligibility for testing to fire prevention officer is any current first grade firefighter with at least five years in grade prior to the exam, as well as any lieutenant or captain. Sign-up sheet is posted at Alliance Fire Department’s Central Fire Station, 63 Broadway in Alliance. Signup is open until 5 p.m. March 17.

STARK PARKS – Stark Parks plans a seasonal job and internship fair from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 7 at Exploration Gateway, 5712 12th St. NW in Canton. Attendees can learn more about available seasonal positions and internships. Job roles include marina staff positions at Sippo Lake in Perry Township and Walborn in Alliance; educational naturalist position; Wildlife Conservation Center opportunities; and seasonal crew workers responsible for park maintenance and lawn care. BELOIT COUNCIL − Beloit Village Council will meet at 3 p.m. Friday at Village Hall to discuss police contract details. Board members plan to recess into executive session, and said in a news release that no action is expected at this time.
