Mayo face off against Dublin, Italy face England in Rome

After an impressive showing in Salthill last week, Paul Towey parachuted into the Mayo attack for their Division One football summit with Dublin.

In Division Two, Meath will look to build on last week’s draw with Fermanagh as they go to Armagh.

Fermanagh themselves host Kildare.

Down’s promotion push in Division Three continues against Limerick in Newry.

And in Division 4, Carlow play Waterford, and Wexford face Laois.


This afternoon also sees the start of the new Allianz Hurling League season.

Parnell Park hosts the Division One meeting of Dublin and Tipperary.

While Galway play Westmeath.

 

Rugby

The opening round of the Six Nations continues this afternoon.

England are in Rome to face Italy from 2:15pm.

Ex-Munster Ben Healy out-half is among the replacements for Scotland as they take on Wales in Cardiff from 4:45pm.


Meanwhile, Ireland captain Peter O’Mahony has called last night’s win over France a career highlight.

The Men in Green ran in five tries as they beat the hosts by 38 points to 17 in Marseille.

It’s only Ireland’s fifth away victory over the French since 1972, and O’Mahony says he is all too aware of how rare those wins can be.

 

Soccer

Richardson has scored for Tottenham against his former club Everton to leave it 1-0 in the Premier League’s lunchtime game.

Spurs can go level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal with a win today.


Republic of Ireland international Adam Idah could make his Celtic debut in the Scottish Premiership this lunchtime

He’s been named on the bench for their trip to Aberdeen, with no goals so far at Pittodrie.
