Ireland lead France at half-time in match billed as potential title-decider

Ireland lead France 17-10 at half-time in the opening match of the Six Nations 2024.

Ireland have been comfortably the better team but will be frustrated to be just seven points ahead at the break.

The Irish tries came from Jamison Gibson Park and Tadhg Beirne.

Damien Penaud went over for France’s first try just before the break.

The hosts were reduced to 14 men eight minutes before half-time, with Paul Willemse shown a second yellow card for another high challenge.

Ireland’s attack has been powerful and skillful in equal measure, while the lineout has functioned better than expected.

Overall France have been poor, dominated in the collisions while falling off tackles.
