Meta’s Zuckerberg apologizes to families of victims who have suffered harm due to social media


Meta and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg stood up in a Senate hearing and apologized to families who have been victimized on social media. Zuckerberg appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee with other social media CEOs, who were grilled by senators about the companies’ efforts to stop child sexual exploitation.

JOSH HAWLEY: Let me ask you this. There’s families of victims here today. Have you apologized to the victims.

MARK ZUCKERBERG: I–

JOSH HAWLEY: Would like to do so now?

MARK ZUCKERBERG: Well–

JOSH HAWLEY: They are here. You’re on national television. Would you like now to apologize to the victims who have been harmed by your product?

Show him the pictures. Would you like to apologize for what you’ve done to these good people?

MARK ZUCKERBERG: I’m sorry for everything you all have been through. No one should have to go through the things that your families have suffered. And this is why we’ve invested so much and are going to continue doing industry leading efforts to make sure that no one has to go through the types of things that your families have had to suffer.
