10 men across North Texas charged with trying to have sex with minors, police say

After an undercover operation to root out adults seeking to have sex with children under the age of 17, Fort Worth police and three other agencies arrested 10 people suspected of online solicitation of a minor, according to a news release.

Police from Dec. 20 to Dec. 22 worked as part of Operation St. Nick to “establish communication with potential targets who were actively seeking to engage in sexual conduct with children,” according to the news release from Fort Worth police. The department arrested six suspects.

Two more people were arrested in North Richland Hills along with one arrest by Irving police and another by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

As part of the operation, police online posed as underage girls and talked to grown men who eventually went to meet the people they thought were minors for sex, according to police. One of the arrests in Fort Worth came after a report that a man sexually assaulted a real 14-year-old girl he met online.

According to the news release, the arrests in Fort Worth included:

  • Seth Martin, 23, of Fort Worth, was arrested after police received a report during the undercover operation that he had sexually assaulted a real 14-year-old girl he met and solicited online. While the sexual assault of a child is being investigated by Dallas police, investigators in Fort Worth used chat records to obtain an arrest warrant on the solicitation charge;

  • Jerry Zucker, 51, of Azle, is accused of talking to someone he believed to be a 16-year-old girl and going to meet up with her to have sex. He is a registered sex offender with a previous 14-year-old victim;

  • Brent Cutler, 35, of Sherman, showed up to meet and have sex with someone he believed to be a 16-year-old girl. Police found more than 50 files of child pornography on his phone and arrested him on charges of online solicitation of a minor and possession of child pornography;

  • Peyton Hanshew, 30, of Hico, also showed up to meet someone he thought was a 16-year-old girl to have sex. He at one point asked the girl to take an Uber to his location in Hico for that reason. Hico police were waiting there to arrest him and he now faces charges of online solicitation of a minor;

  • Mark Millsap, 58, of Burleson, was another man who thought he would be meeting a 16-year-old girl for sex and was arrested on a warrant after the undercover operation ended;

  • Andrea Williams, 50, of Dallas, tried to meet up with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl to have sex and was arrested on a charge of online solicitation of a minor.

The release also said these men were arrested by other agencies participating in the operation, according to police:

  • North Richland Hills police arrested Bastrop Cedar Creek High School teacher and girls basketball coach James Austin Byrd, 42, of Bastrop, after he showed up to meet and have sex with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl;

  • Michael Jordan, 39, of Frisco, was also arrested after an investigation by North Richland Hills police. He went to meet up and have sex with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl, bringing with him 7 grams of methamphetamine and a fake handgun that resembled a real firearm. He was arrested on online solicitation of a minor and drug charges;

  • Deon Young, 30, of Irving, was arrested after an investigation by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. He went to meet and have sex with someone he thought was a 16-year-old girl and was arrested on online solicitation of a minor.
