Police struggle to upright semi after crash, some lanes near I-84 in Nampa still closed

An Amazon semitrailer accident caused delays near I-84 on Monday morning, according to police.

A semi rolled over on North Idaho Center Boulevard in Nampa, just north of Interstate 84, the Nampa Police Department said on social media.

After its driver attempted to merge too quickly, the truck rolled over shortly before 9 a.m. and slid into another car, Chris Kennedy, corporal for the police department’s traffic team, told the Idaho Statesman by phone.

Kennedy said no one was seriously injured, though police cited the truck driver for driving “too fast for conditions.”

Officials struggled to get the semi, which was fully loaded with Amazon products, back upright because of the weight of the trailer, according to Kennedy. He said the trailer’s contents had to be transferred to another truck.

All northbound lanes of the boulevard were previously blocked. Two of the three lanes remained closed as of 3:30 p.m. Kennedy said he hoped to reopen lanes before 6 p.m.

Southbound traffic was impacted as well, with vehicles moving more slowly than usual, according to the department.

Police said drivers should “expect delays and avoid the area if possible.”

The wreck happened Monday morning.
